Last week my blog went quiet, for the entire week. I've been keeping to my three-a-week schedule and haven't missed a post yet, but last week I needed to go dark, for the first time since I started this.
I missed the eleventh anniversary of 9/11, I missed the Godaddy outage (yes, sadly, I'm still on Godaddy; I need to switch but I'm dreading the pain of doing so), I missed riots in the Middle East, and I missed the new iPhone announcement, which, oddly, seemed to occupy more of the news cycle than any of those other things.
Basically, I'm coming to a crossroads. It's becoming more and more difficult to write to this blog on a timely schedule, and I fear my posts are becoming more and more homogeneous, covering fewer and fewer things. As of today, I still plan on posting thrice weekly, but it's certainly possible that that may change in the near future, without warning, if I determine that such a change will improve the quality of this blog or that foregoing such a change will have the opposite effect.
It's also more difficult to update during the political season. I've already posted regarding my wishes that the elections had already passed, and during a normal, non-presidential election year, I have no trouble discussing political matters. But the level of vitriol during the presidential election always scares me away. So I tend to avoid it. Whether I will continue to avoid or not, we shall see.
And finally, it's a new year, in the Jewish calendar, as Rosh Hashanah today brings us 5773. A good time for apples and honey. And, for me, it was a good time to take a break. But I'm back.
